Terms of Service
The terms that govern use of MeritVault — the Assessment Integrity Operating System.
Overview
Using MeritVault
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of MeritVault. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, the institution you represent.
Last updated: August 2026. If you are agreeing for an institution, you confirm you have authority to do so.
Accounts
Accounts and eligibility
MeritVault is provided to institutions for institutional use. Accounts are managed by your institution's administrators, who control access, roles and permissions.
You must be authorized by your institution to use MeritVault and must keep account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
Your Data
Your content and data
Your institution owns its assessment data — controls, evidence, exceptions and decisions. MeritVault acts as a service provider, processing your data to deliver the platform under your instructions and your agreement.
You grant MeritVault a limited license to process your data solely to provide and secure the services. We do not use your data to train models for the benefit of other customers.
Use
Acceptable use
You agree to use MeritVault responsibly:
Provide truthful information
Enter accurate evidence, ownership and attribution data.
Respect access boundaries
Use only the data and features your role permits.
Protect credentials
Keep accounts and access secure; do not share them.
Honour your agreements
Comply with the obligations you have with your institution and its vendors.
You must not misuse the platform — including tampering with evidence provenance, circumventing access controls, or attempting to obscure actions taken within the system.
Integrity
Responsible use for integrity
MeritVault exists to make assessment integrity demonstrable. The platform's value depends on the accuracy of what you record. Evidence, ownership and attribution you enter should reflect reality.
Where MeritVault uses AI to assist, it augments human judgment; people remain accountable for the integrity decisions recorded. See our Responsible AI position.
IP
Intellectual property
MeritVault and its software, design and brand are owned by MeritVault and its licensors. Your institution retains ownership of its content. These terms grant no rights to MeritVault's intellectual property except as needed to use the service.
Vendors
Third-party systems and vendors
MeritVault connects across systems you already use. You are responsible for your use of those third-party systems and for complying with their terms. MeritVault is not responsible for the conduct of third-party vendors except to the extent stated in your agreement.
Legal
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
MeritVault is provided as a service to support assessment integrity. It does not replace your institution's own responsibilities, controls or judgment. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MeritVault is provided “as is” and without warranties beyond those expressly stated in your agreement.
To the extent permitted by law, MeritVault's aggregate liability is limited as set out in your agreement, and excludes indirect or consequential losses.
Termination
Termination and changes
Your institution's administrators can manage or revoke access at any time. On termination, data is handled in line with your agreement, including return or deletion where applicable.
We may update these terms as our services evolve and will communicate material changes through your account or your MeritVault contact.
Contact
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws agreed in your agreement with MeritVault. Disputes are resolved in the corresponding jurisdiction.
